The Alien Hand is a project I've had boiling behind my eyes for some time. It cooks down to this: some good friends and excellent players doing what they do best. The core group is myself (Jimmy Orrell), Tony Crawford, and Don Landry. We have a jam at JamStation on the first Sunday of the month. Some friends come sit in. Sometimes it really smokes. Here's evidence of that-recorded live from the First Sunday Jams. I feel priveleged to have shared the stage with all these great musicians.
While there are many other styles of music played at the Jams, here's some of what we do...
All these tracks were recorded live at JamStation. Most were recorded straight to two tracks pretty much the way it came off the stage. We are currently recording tracks with Low B Studios for an original CD.

The first three songs we had rehearsed somewhat, this was our first time to play them onstage.

After the First Sunday jammers had come and gone and the crowd had windled down to single digits, we pulled the slightly bouyant keg into the Showcase Room, locked the doors and broke out the customary bottle of Jack Black. About half way thru the bottle my cousin Roger decided The Hand should jam some more. Easy for him to say!! Tony and I drug chairs onto the stage so we could sit too(pinche drummers) and the three of us just wailed and laughed our way thru these tunes. I have to give Brian Bridger props for sticking around and capturing the magic.

"Where's One" is just the Alien Hand grabbing a groove and floating along.
"Red House" is, of course, a Hendrix tune that is part of the Alien Hand standards.
"Lenny" is a song by Stevie Ray Vaughn. This version is pretty cool except for the idiot with the microphone...uh, did I mention the bottle of Jack? I guess I could have cut it out but it was appropriate for the moment-and so true!

We're half way thru laying tracks for the CD. You'll have to check back later for that-9 originals and one cover tune. I'll post some videos eventually. If you've read all this you're a patient soul. Thanks for listening. 11/15/2006
